Throughout history, in many different countries and in many different ways we have seen brave men and women fighting and dying for what they believed in - the dream of
freedom. They were oppressed and
persecuted, and to them freedom seemed like a far away dream. The freedom to express an opinion without fear, admit that they belonged to a particular religion or to oppose a tyrannical, unjust regime. These men and women are what we call heroes. The question that we may ask ourselves is that do you have to die to be a
hero? If we can examine this issue well we will realize that not all the heroes loose their lives on the struggle for freedom. This can be justified by the examples like the first black president of South Africa,
Nelson Mandela. He fought along side with his counterparts which most of them lost their lives in the struggle for the rights of the black nationals at that present time of apartheid. Today he is one of the few people can look up and admire their effort in the world as a result he won a noble price for peace, still has the honor and respect from the whole world, a hero indeed! Below is a picture of Mandela, one of the living evidence of heroes.

Today a lot of people look out to the current and first black president of the United States of America as a hero. People associate him with the late Malcolm as they both show passion in fighting for the rights of black people.
One of president Obama's famous speech which says "Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.", goes along with Malcolm's speeches which verifies that somehow the two heroes connect.
